Hey, Friend you lovely person who understands the importance of inclusivity 👋
This month marked the 11th Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), a celebration very close to our hearts. With over 1 Billion people in the world with disabilities and 70% of digital content not accessible to them, we are passionate about improving accessibility across the web — so much so that we’ve dedicated an afternoon to it. 👉 Join in on the virtual funon Thursday, June 16th.
“If you don’t design for accessibility, it’s like saying to every fifth person who walks in your door, ‘I don’t really want your business’.” — Bert Floyd, Team Lead of Assistive Technologies,

💯 STATS OF THE MONTH
HALF OF YOUR PAGE CONTENT ISN’T BEING SEEN
When the average scroll rate is only 54%, you don’t have to be an analyst to understand the importance of improving the visibility of your web content. So, here are some of our top-notch UX tips (we’re giving you the cream of the crop) to encourage your visitors to scroll down further:
Quick filters above the fold
Help your visitors find what they’re looking for more efficiently. Use quick filters above the fold to allow visitors to navigate to a popular or featured category
Use a cut design on mobile
The cut design of the images, by showing a part of the next image within the carousel clearly indicates the swipability of the images. It also informs users that there are more images.

HOW TO GET YOUR BUSINESS ON BOARD THE ACCESSIBILITY TRAIN?
There’s a million-dollar question for ya.
If the fact that 70% of your digital content isn't accessible doesn't hit home, here’s advice from Tzveta Dinova, Accessibility Specialist at ASOS:
“If you put a real-life user with a disability in front of the people in your organization, they’re going to be sold on accessibility. It’s very hard to argue against that negative experience of a person that’s sitting right in front of you.”
Nuff said.

🔥 And now for our rapid-fire round...
Biggest UX pet peeve: A web page that never loads. A filter that doesn’t work. A checkout form that forgets your details. So many peeves.
Most used app: Got to be the Podcast app - I can’t go anywhere without listening to a story.
Best WFH tip: Always have a glass full of water during the day and a glass full of gin when you log off 😉
Biggest work fail: Sharing the wrong screen and showing your Slack messages to your client has got to be up there. Especially when your boss is on the call…
Fave podcast: For all you true crime fans out there I have a recommendation list as long as my arm. Best one out there is Crime Junkies.
Top tune: Anything Harry Styles right now - I’m loving it!
Favourite restaurant: Nest in Dalston. A seasonal tasting menu that only uses 1 meat per month and every course is a variation of that meat. It’s amazing. They also have a veggie month.
